Dimensions
Before I started to paint, my thoughts were to create design. As I look at the finished painting, I see layers and dimensions. Thus I named it Dimensions. I try to create a feeling of dimension in every painting that I do. I have some help from the medium (beeswax) because when it melts it flows and lends itself to create different and interesting dimensions that guide me in the process. To lend to the design, I thought a lot of various colors would be great so I used; black, blue, green...

Sakura in Japanese means cherry. In the early 1900 hundreds the United States were given 3000 cherry trees to celebrate the peace between the two countries. This tradition has been celebrated every since, the most recent was with Michelle Obama planting two trees. It is celebrated in Japan also. It gives me a warm feeling when I painted this tree. Two of my children were born in Japan so our family feels a close relationship with the country. Yes, I will be painting more cherry trees. I...

I studied art with a Japanese art teacher and also lived in Japan for many years which has an Asian influence on some of my paintings. This painting is an example of this. The mood of this painting is a good example of how artists see their connection to nature. 9 x 11, Paper, Beeswax

One of my favorite places to be is in the woods in a mountainous location; this painting represents my idea of the perfect place to be during winter. I go there in my mind when I can’t physically be there. This painting gave me a pleasant surprise-I see a fawn laying its head on the snow; it must have liked the serenity also. 12 x 14, Paper, Beeswax

I started to paint this painting and decided to try something different. I put in three shades of different colors (Blue, green and pink.) across the page. Then I proceeded to paint objects that I thought would go in this painting. I thought of things of the desert, and something that might go in this painting with the colors that I chose. I painted a large moon in this scene as I think that the moon looks larger at night in the southwest desert shining over the yuccas. In nature, the moon at...

Another abstact painting. Shadows is painted on a black background that I think lends itself to the mysterious look that was achieved. This painting makes you wonder what you’re not seeing. Could mysterious animals be lurking in the woods? Could gnomes or elves be hiding behind the trees? Or maybe a unicorn will appear unexpectedly? Let your fertile imagination be the judge. I added orange, yellow and white to the black background. Not too many colors in this picture so that the muted feel...
